The path to the temple can be accessed from Fongbo Square at the foot of the mountain. The trail is lined with Ceylon olive trees, trema trees, thorny bamboo, yucca plants (which have blade-like sharp leaves), and towering juniper trees. Travelers may also find some rose apple trees at the top, the fruit of which carry a faint fragrance. Taiwan Formosan Rock Monkeys sometimes climb these rose app;e trees and devour the fruits while sitting on a branch, much like the scene from Journey to the West in which Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, devoured the peaches. The peak is enshrouded by incense smoke, giving it a zen-like atmosphere.
